TanStack AI 1.0 has an official Jev adapter

TanStack AI reached 1.0 on 22 October 2026 with an official Jev adapter, @tanstack/ai-typesafe. What it does, what TanStack says, and what is still open.

[ TLDR ]
  • On 22 October 2026 TanStack AI, the TypeScript AI library, released version 1.0.0, and its official Jev adapter, @tanstack/ai-typesafe, reached 1.0.0 the same day.
  • The adapter had been on npm since 18 September, three days after Jev launched.
  • With it, a TypeScript app calls Jev through TanStack's decide() function and gets typed answers back.
  • TanStack and TypeSafe wrote the sources below; nothing here has been tested by JevHub.

What shipped

TanStack AI describes itself as a type-safe, provider-agnostic TypeScript AI SDK, and its GitHub repository showed about 3,250 stars on 26 October 2026. Its 1.0.0 release on 22 October removed every API that had been deprecated in the 0.x versions, and the changelog tells users to read the upgrade guide before they move.

Inside that repository is a package called @tanstack/ai-typesafe, an MIT-licensed adapter that lets TanStack AI call Jev. The npm record shows it was first published on 18 September 2026, fourteen versions followed, and it reached 1.0.0 on 22 October. TanStack's page says it talks to TypeSafe's API with plain fetch and adds no TypeSafe SDK.

What it lets you do

A TypeScript app calls TanStack's decide() function with the data to judge and a set of typed questions: a choice, a score or a yes or no. Jev answers with a value and a probability for each, and the app branches on the answers in plain code. TanStack says the call must run on a server, because it needs your API key.

Jev is one of six providers TanStack documents for the same call. The others are OpenRouter, Vercel AI Gateway, Cloudflare, OpenAI and a local model called Ollaya, so changing provider means changing the adapter.

What to keep in mind

Points from TanStack's own pages and changelog:

  • A young library. TanStack AI is days past a 1.0 release that removed many old APIs, so pin a version.
  • Three question types. The adapter page documents choice, score and boolean. It does not mention Box questions or images.
  • Model names. The page names jev-latest and jev-1.13.0, and says other TypeSafe model IDs can be passed as a string. TypeSafe's models page says jev-latest now points to jev-1.14.0.
  • Errors. Since 1.0.0 a failed TypeSafe request carries its HTTP status code, so an app can tell a rate limit from a bad key.
